Welcome to the Marion County 4-H Archery web site home to the Marion County Archers
We meet every Tuesday from December to June at the Forest Archers range in Ocala, Florida located across from the famous Silver Springs Attraction at 5:00 PM sharp. Here new archers and past 4-Hers are instructed in the proper and safe use of the bow and arrow. Ages are from 8 to 17 years of age (as of September 1st of the prior year). Each archer must posses his or her own equipment as archery equipment is like shoes in that each bow and arrow setup must fit the archer in order for them to be able to shoot with accuracy. We shoot mainly 3-D archery in the ASA (archery shooters Association)format, although we also shoot field and Fita but must travel to different ranges to do this type of shoot since our host at Forest Archers is not set up to do this .
You can learn more about 3-d archery by visiting www.asaarchery.com
or by visiting your local archery shop we are lucky enough to have one of Florida's best located here in Ocala Jerry's Indoor Archery Give them a call at 352 351 3766 or visit them on the web at http://jerrysindoorarchery.tripod.com/
We have accomplished our mission for the 2008 season! Training with our coach for the state championships to be held at camp Ocala in March and to later host an actual 3-D tournament for all the 4-Hers in the State. As our coach has seen in the past a need for a more realistic venue prior to the Nationals we will be hosting a shoot in June with realistic ranges for the senior 4-H shooters throughout the State. This competition is also for juniors and intermediates shooting from closer stakes so fun can be had by all.

Since we shoot as a team our score may not reflect the highest but our team effort of diligent practice and helping each other overcome flaws in our shooting form has once again proved itself for us. We would like to thank Forest Archers for giving us the opportunity to practice with no charge at their Range in Silver Springs, our volunteer leader Mr. Jerry Reed and our Assistant leader Mr. Andrew Smith along with all of our parents and our Coach and Leader Mr. Buster Stratton and his wife Robin.
